We’re gonna start with a bang! Since it’s getting close to Christmas I’m going to share with you my recipe for a delicious prime rib roast. It’s what we fix for our Christmas Dinner. Our local Albertsons has a sale every year on prime rib roast so we take advantage.
You’ll need:
- Prime Rib Roast (generally feeds 2 people per bone)
- 1-2 sticks of butter softened
- About 8 cloves of garlic minced
- 1-2 tablespoons fresh parsley
- Montreal Steak Seasoning to taste
- A little Cajun seasoning for dusting
Once the butter is softened add your minced garlic, and fresh parsley. Pat your roast dry and rub the butter mixture all over the roast. After the roast is fully coated with the butter liberally sprinkle the steak seasoning all over the roast. Lightly dust with Cajun seasoning. Set in fridge overnight.

Set oven temp to 500 degrees and once ready put the roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Then reduce heat to 325 and continue to cook until it’s done to your liking.
Rare: 120 degrees F (about 10-12 min/pound).
Medium Rare: 130 degrees F (about 13-14 min/pound)
Medium: 140 degrees F (about 14-15 min/pound)
Medium Well:150 degrees
Periodically check the internal temp with a meet thermometer. Just know that the roast continues to cook after you remove it from the oven. So it’s a good idea to remove it when it reaches about 5 degrees before it reaches your desired internal temperature.
