These buns are soft, delicious, and very easy to make!
Ingredients:
- 1 packet or 2 1/4 Tsp of active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup of warm water (between 110-115 degrees)
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 tsp salt (optional if you use salted butter)
- 3 TBSP Butter (softened at room temp)
- 2 eggs at room temp
- 2 TBSP Milk
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- In small bowl or measuring cup combine water sugar, and yeast and let sit in warm place until foamy.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer combine the the active yeast, 1 egg, butter, 2 cups of the flour, and salt (if using). Using your dough hook beat the mixture on medium speed until combined and smooth. It will be sticky at this point.
- Gradually add the remaining flour while mixing with dough hook. Keep mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball. At this point beat on high for about 2-3 minutes.
- Oil a large bowl. (Olive oil, canola, crisco are fine). Remove dough from mixer and finish shaping into a ball. Put in oiled bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with towel and put in warm place to let rise. (I like to put in microwave). Allow to rise until doubled in size. (About an hour)
- Once doubled in size punch dough down and pour onto lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a log and then divide into 6-8 even pieces. (You could weigh the dough to ensure uniformity). Shape into balls. Pinching the dough at the bottom of the ball.
- Place rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Gently push each ball until about 3-4 inches in diameter depending on how many you chose to make. Cover with towel and set aside in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Whisk together remaining egg and milk and coat balls of dough with egg wash.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Once doubled in size bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
